There are two basic reasons to use organic skincare: it’s better for you, and better for the environment.
Better for You
While there are laws around cosmetic products, they don’t need FDA approval before going on the market. That means if a brand isn’t following the law, your skin care could contain hidden dangerous ingredients. Everything you put on your skin soaks into your body. If you don’t care for the presence of pesticides or strange chemicals in your body, organic is the way to go. Plus, your skin will respond better to less-irritating natural ingredients.
Better for the Environment
Fertilizers and chemicals used in traditional farming methods gets into the waterways and soil. These dangerous substances can harm wildlife and damage the ecosystem—along with the land crops are grown on. Organic farming methods don’t present that risk. Instead of chemicals, they use sustainable farming practices like natural fertilizers and rotating crops.
